We're looking at taking part in the BFI's Britain on Film project where thousands of archive films have been digitised to be seen on screen for the first time. We would be focusing on the theme of 'rural', screening newly digitised archive footage of rural areas and themes, relevant to East Anglia. The East Anglian Film Archive (EAFA) has a growing number of archive films that have recently been digitised, so we could put a compilation together. Films like To Plough, To Sow, a documentary exploring Suffolk farming in the 1930s, is one example of the kind of footage available for screening: To Plough, To Sow
As with all our BFI projects, Suffolk Cinema Network would cover the vast majority (if not all) of the licence cost. If this project interests you and you would like to put on an archive screening for Britain on Film - Rural, do please drop me a line. [email protected]
Secondly, Bath Film Festival have been in touch about a project called the F-Rated Project - a platform for discussing and supporting women in cinema as well as female directors in film industry. The Bath Film Festival have developed the 'F' rating to champion films that women have written, or directed, or where there are strong female leads. They are hoping to encourage UK cinemas and film festivals to become part of this new movement. I have a list that they have sent me of forthcoming releases that have the 'F' rating and they are also sending out some marketing materials. If you're interested in finding out more and / or screening an F-rated film or a season of films, to support women in film, get in touch! [email protected]
